Realizations of Becoming Whole – Daily Routines

importance of a morning routine

Previously, I covered the general mindset of being whole – do the best you can, but never get down on yourself for not doing everything “perfectly”. Keep the effort up and give your best. The quest for perfection is ALWAYS a losing battle. “Nice” people shoot for it on a daily basis. Jerks believe they are perfect. Both of these mindsets are faulty and inaccurate. Whole people embrace the truth that perfection is impossible and take comfort in it.

A good practice towards becoming whole is to establish a morning routine that energizes you!

Daily habits are how personal growth is sustained.

Daily habits sow the seeds for your personal development. What you do habitually will produce long-term results. It’s not what’s done once in a great while but done consistently.

I have what I call a “kingly plan”. I get up, fix my hair, take care of bathroom business, weigh myself and record the day’s weight measurement on the kitchen calendar, do my morning 15-minute meditation, eat a small breakfast with a pre-workout, and go outside and walk for two hours. This sets the tone for the rest of my day and I take comfort that I accomplished something of value.

What my morning routine looks like:

Morning weigh-in at the best possible time for an accurate weight measurement – check

Morning meditation – check

Breakfast — Check

Get geared up for a long walk – check

Take the long walk – check

Then I veg for a bit in front of my computer after coming home and making eggs as a mid-morning meal after resting. This gives me a feeling of accomplishment and a feeling of confidence that stays with me for the remainder of the day.

If you don’t listen to uplifting podcasts, I strongly urge you to do so. We live in a great time to be alive. Anyone with a cell phone and earbuds can do this. Don’t get carried away with the many, many voices in the world of podcasts. It’s best to look at the advice objectively, and intentionally seek out those that are continually positive. Be pragmatic in your journey of wholeness.

respect beauty and give yourself positive messages
It's important to feed your mind positive messages and acknowledge the beauty around you.

If you don’t have a morning routine that energizes you, I strongly recommend that you get one. This will set the tone for the rest of your day and give you plenty of energy. My own routine fills me with a sense of accomplishment that makes me feel good – feel free to try a variation of my routine out. Whatever routine that you decide to implement, make sure it’s something you are comfortable with and can do every morning, without fail.

If you must go into work in the morning, it can be as simple as looking at what you’re grateful for and writing down 5 things every morning. Another example is – you can wake up half an hour earlier and look up motivational videos on YouTube. It can be something small and simple, nothing elaborate. It should energize you and get your revved for the day.

The importance of routine and habits cannot be overstated!

Whole people have a sense of structure that empowers them. The morning routine is one exceptionally good way of cultivating that.
